Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt ready to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "any day without laughter".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct essay, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles court official agreed to block the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the killings, public individuals offered different responses.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial statements that were widely condemned by numerous public figures.
